Candidacy determination

A fertility specialist is essential in diagnosing any conditions and will be best able to determine if a patient is a proper candidate for the artificial insemination procedure.

There are a number of situations in which artificial insemination will be deemed a possible treatment for infertility. Men who have a low sperm count, sperm with low motility, have

deformed sperm that are unable to successfully able to navigate the vagina, or unable to ejaculate into the vagina due to impotence are typical candidates for donation of their own sperm. Women with cervical stenosis (small opening to the womb), lack of cervical mucous, or cervical mucous that contains anti-sperm antibodies are likely to be selected…and the woman must have a normal menstrual cycle with regular ovulation present in order for this particular treatment to be considered.
